Lucknow: Chief Secretary SP Goyal on Friday directed officials to ensure effective coordination among all concerned departments to prevent cybercrimes in the state.Reviewing the functioning of the UP Cyber Police during a meeting, the chief secretary assessed the progress on nine priority areas related to cybercrime.He said a comprehensive public awareness campaign should be launched to protect people from cyber fraud and that all departments must work in coordination with the cyber cell.“The UP State Cyber Coordination Centre (UPS4C) should be established at the earliest. The e-Zero FIR mechanism should also be made operational soon. Under the ‘Samagra Shasan’ approach, all govt departments should work in coordination to ensure that cyber awareness reaches the last person in the state. The statewide intelligence-based cyber campaign ‘Operation Cyber Vajra’ by UP Police should be continuously strengthened and made more effective,” the chief secretary said.The meeting also discussed measures to strengthen cyber security, promote the safe use of digital media and enhance citizens’ safety.The chief secretary directed officials to make the cyber helpline and grievance redressal system more effective so that timely assistance could be provided to victims.During the review, Director General of Police (Cyber Crime) BK Singh said the draft notification for the State Cyber Coordination Centre, which will coordinate all units dealing with cybercrime, is ready.
