Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to ensure that Indiramma housing projects taken up in the core urban region economy (CURE) area are located within existing residential neighbourhoods, stressing that beneficiaries should not be forced away from their workplaces and sources of livelihood.At a high-level review meeting, the CM asked officials to identify vacant govt land within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits for the construction of Indiramma houses. He directed police, revenue and transport departments to surrender unused land for the housing programme, assuring them that alternative land would be allotted wherever necessary.“Constructing houses in remote locations or far away from the working places of beneficiaries could adversely affect the livelihoods of economically weaker families. It may even result in the houses remaining unoccupied. Indiramma housing colonies should be located close to workplaces and existing residential neighbourhoods to ensure better living conditions and sustainable livelihoods for beneficiaries,” Revanth told the officials.Under the proposed model, each Indiramma flat in the CURE area will have a built-up area of around 528 sq ft and a carpet area of 400 sq ft. The estimated cost of construction is ₹11 lakh per unit, with the govt providing a ₹5 lakh subsidy and beneficiaries contributing the remaining ₹6 lakh. The land cost will be borne entirely by the state govt.In the first phase, the govt plans to construct 7,680 flats across 17 assembly constituencies — Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment and Malakpet.The chief minister also directed officials to expedite the identification of suitable land in these constituencies to ensure timely implementation of the housing programme.
