Faridabad cop held taking Rs 2,000 to prepare reply to court’s non-bailable warrant

Gurgaon: A constable posted at NIT-5 police station in Faridabad was arrested by the Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) for accepting a Rs 2,000 bribe to prepare a reply to a court-issued non-bailable warrant (NBW).The accused, Pankaj, was caught red-handed by a trap team of the bureau’s Faridabad unit following a complaint by Saurabh. According to the complaint, Pankaj had demanded the money to prepare a reply to a court notice and an NBW issued in the name of Saurabh’s uncle, Phool Singh.After verifying the allegations, the bureau formed a trap team under the supervision of inspector Vijendra Singh. The team caught Pankaj while he was accepting the bribe from the complainant.“The entire operation was conducted in accordance with the provisions of Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023,” an official said.An FIR was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which deals with public servants accepting illegal gratification.Officials said the investigation was underway to ascertain whether the accused had been involved in similar acts in the past and whether any other people were linked to the case.
