Man found hanging, live-in partner dead on the floor of Gr Noida house

Noida: A 27-year-old man allegedly murdered his live-in partner before hanging himself in a rented accommodation in Tugalpur village of Greater Noida, police said on Thursday.Initial probe suggests financial distress as the motive behind the incident but the exact cause will be found after a thorough investigation, an officer said. The bodies of the two were discovered on Wednesday evening after neighbours complained of a foul smell, he said.“We were informed by a caller that a man had committed suicide in Surendra Nagar, following which a team from Knowledge Park police station immediately rushed to the spot. Upon reaching the spot, police found the house locked from the inside. The door was forcibly opened, and the man was found hanging,” the officer said.Police also found a woman’s body that had apparently been strangled with a cloth. The two bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition. Preliminary probe suggests they are natives of Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh. While the woman worked as a housekeeping staffer in a private hospital, the man was unemployed. The woman, however, had not gone to work for the past 20 days, the officer said.Local residents told police that the couple frequently argued over financial issues, particularly the man’s unemployment. Some also claimed the woman had recently quit her job, leading to more tension between them.According to police, the man may have killed the woman after an argument and later hanged himself. Police are awaiting the post-mortem reports to determine the exact sequence of events.Family members of the deceased have been informed and were present during the inquest proceedings. The man’s family told police that they were unaware of his live-in relationship, and were under the impression he was working in Hyderabad.Police have initiated a detailed investigation into all possible angles, including the nature of injuries on the woman’s body and any signs of struggle. Further legal action is under way.
