Panaji: The state cabinet on Wednesday transferred 15,000sqm of land in Ponda, owned by the directorate of transport, to the department for empowerment of persons with disabilities (divyangjan) for setting up a composite rehabilitation centre (CRC).The ministry of social justice and empowerment has approved and sanctioned the CRC for Goa. The project will be implemented through the Ali Yavar Jang National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan), an autonomous body under the divyangjan department.The ministry will fund the full construction (capex) and operational (opex) costs, with no financial burden on state govt.The chief minister directed that the land be allocated to AJNISHD (D) for the construction of the CRC, while ownership remains with state govt.
