Kolkata/New Delhi: From explosive social media comments about being slighted by party chief Mamata Banerjee, to meeting Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya in Parliament, to vowing to keep battling rebel lawmakers, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee did it all in mere 24 hours.In a social media post on Tuesday night, Kalyan poured out his grievances over being insulted and repeatedly interrupted while addressing the Martyrs’ Day rally organised by the Mamata-led faction. Accusing a section of the party of feeding misleading information against him to media, Kalyan said, “These ‘Kalighat sources’ will destroy the party.”Kalyan said the first interruption at the rally took place when party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee arrived while he was delivering his speech. “Abhishek Banerjee reached the venue and took five minutes to move around the stage, forcing me to pause my speech for five minutes. In Didi’s case, I had to stop again. I asked her if I should continue and did so only when she said ‘yes’,” Kalyan said.Highlighting his loyalty to Mamata, Kalyan said barring him, no other neta had made district visits over the last two months due to fear of backlash. “During the last two months, I visited numerous districts to encourage party workers,” he said.On Wednesday morning, following his suspension from the Lok Sabha, Kalyan was seen outside Parliament with state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya, alongside Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra. The two spoke briefly. When questioned about the meeting, Bhattacharya said he speaks to everyone and that there was nothing unusual about it.Later in the day, Kalyan returned to his fiery self, lashing out at the rebels. “What will they achieve by suspending me? They cannot throw me out of the House. They are 20 MPs. Did they even hold a meeting in Kolkata? They don’t even have 20 votes in Bengal. They are traitors,” he said. “Today is not the last day — there is tomorrow, and the day after… After one year, this govt will fall,” Banerjee added.
