Chennai: Three men were arrested for robbing and extorting ₹35,000 from a real estate businessman after luring him to a house in T Nagar through a dating app. Police recovered ₹21,000 and seized a mobile phone and knife. The realtor, Sureshkumar, 53, of Arumbakkam, received a call through the mobile application on Sunday evening and was asked to visit a house in T Nagar. When he reached the location, three men assaulted him, threatened him with a knife and demanded money. Investigators said the culprits snatched his mobile phone, transferred ₹15,000 from his bank account to their account using an online payment portal and later withdrew another ₹20,000 from an ATM. Sureshkumar escaped the house and lodged a complaint with the Mambalam police. A special team then traced and arrested Sudhakar, 20, Sathish, 20, both residents of T Nagar, and Vigneshwar, 27, of Ashok Nagar, on Tuesday. The three were remanded in judicial custody.
