Gurgaon: A 19-year-old tattoo artist, who remained unconscious after a collision near Sohna Chowk last week, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.Devastated, the family has renewed demands for stricter action against the accused SUV driver. The family members said they would continue pursuing justice for Divyansh Chadha, while hoping for the recovery of his cousin, Yashika Chadha, 22, who remains in critical care.Divyansh suffered severe injuries to his head, neck and ribs after the family’s Baleno was allegedly rammed by an SUV around 4.40am on Friday. Divyansh was the only son in the family.Police registered an FIR at Shivaji Nagar police station under sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a) (rash or negligent act endangering human life) and 324(4) (mischief) of BNS. Following Divyansh’s death, they added Section 106 related to causing death due to negligence.A relative told TOI, “Our son fought for his life for days, but we could not save him. No parent should have to witness this pain. The accused should get strict punishment for ruining a family and should remain behind bars.”The family also reiterated its earlier allegation that the accused behaved aggressively after the crash and also alleged that cops delayed the medical examination of the accused.Divyansh, who was cremated after an autopsy, is survived by his parents and elder sister Lakshita, who was also injured in the crash. Lakshita said the family’s lives changed forever.Divyansh’s cousin Yashika, who was travelling in the same car, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Sector 14.On July 17, the family set out before dawn for a religious pilgrimage when the accident occurred. According to police, Divyansh was driving the Baleno while his mother, sister and cousin were travelling with him.As they reached the Sohna Chowk intersection and were turning towards Rajiv Chowk, the Thar allegedly came at high speed from the opposite direction and crashed into the right side of their car.The impact flung the Baleno onto the divider, severely damaging the vehicle, while the SUV overturned. Traffic personnel and bystanders rescued the trapped occupants and shifted them to hospital.On Friday, police arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Rohit Yadav of Sanjay Gram Colony in Sector 13, who runs a cafe near his house.Investigators also procured CCTV footage from the area and other evidence collected after the crash, in which Divyansh’s car was seen slowing down in an attempt to take a right turn towards Rajiv Chowk and the speeding Thar collided with the vehicle.
