Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will dedicate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth nearly ₹995 crore in Gorakhpur on Thursday, giving a major boost to the city’s infrastructure, connectivity and urban development.According to officials, the chief minister will inaugurate four projects worth ₹813.52 crore, including Gorakhpur’s first six-lane flyover, and lay the foundation stone for 10 projects valued at ₹181.77 crore. A public meeting will also be held near the six-lane flyover site along the Deoria Bypass.The highlight of the inauguration programme will be the 2.6-km-long six-lane flyover on the TP Nagar–Padleganj route, built at a cost of ₹429.49 crore. The flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic movement and improve connectivity for vehicles travelling to Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Kushinagar, Deoria, Maharajganj, Bihar and Nepal.The chief minister will also inaugurate the four-laning of the road from Padleganj Chowk to Firaq Gorakhpuri Chowk, completed at a cost of ₹277.78 crore. Other projects to be inaugurated include the shifting of the MES office complex within the Air Force Station campus, undertaken for the expansion of the airport terminal, and the construction of a 48-capacity hostel/barrack and an investigation room at Gulriha police station.Among the projects for which foundation stones will be laid are a ₹47.38-crore working women’s hostel, a ₹73.64-crore underpass and service road from Nandanagar police outpost to Shamsher Gate, a ₹49.60-crore science museum near University Chowk under the Smart City Mission, and a Centre of Excellence at Government Women Polytechnic in collaboration with Tata Technologies.Several road, drainage and civic infrastructure projects across different city wards will also be launched as part of the programme. Officials said the projects are expected to enhance urban mobility, strengthen public infrastructure and improve civic amenities in the city.
