New walking tracks coming up in Sector 46 parks

Chandigarh: The municipal corporation’s engineering department has begun work on constructing new pedestrian tracks around parks in Sector 46 at a cost of Rs 65 lakh, with reusable old paver blocks being incorporated into the project.Area councillor Gurpreet Singh said damaged and worn-out paver blocks surrounding the parks will be replaced using a mix of new and reusable blocks in a 60:40 ratio. The project aims to improve the appearance of the parks while providing safer and more comfortable walking tracks for residents who use them regularly for morning and evening walks. He said the upgraded pathways would improve accessibility and ensure easier movement during the monsoon season, reducing inconvenience for pedestrians. “Development works in ward 34, which includes Sector 46, are being undertaken on a priority basis. The focus is on improving roads, parks, sanitation and other civic infrastructure,” Singh said.In recent months, the MC has also completed storm water drainage works, sewerage upgrades and repairs of road gullies in the area. Officials said the densely populated southern sectors require continuous infrastructure development and timely maintenance to meet residents’ needs.
