Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will lay the foundation stone for a 500-bed working women’s hostel and a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Government Women Polytechnic during his visit to Gorakhpur on July 23, alongside inaugurating the city’s first six-lane flyover.The hostel, being developed under the Mukhyamantri Shramjeevi Mahila Chhatrawas Yojana, will come up on a 6,640-square-metre plot at Khuthan in Chargawan block. The project, being executed by the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, has an estimated cost of Rs 47.38 crore and aims to provide safe and affordable accommodation to working women coming to Gorakhpur for employment or business opportunities.Officials said the hostel building will have stilt parking and eight floors, with a total of 250 rooms accommodating 500 residents. Planned facilities include CCTV surveillance, fire safety systems, a childcare centre, gymnasium, auditorium, laundry, canteen, departmental store, vehicle parking and rainwater harvesting. Security arrangements will include the deployment of guards, a woman warden and housekeeping staff.According to project manager Neeraj Gupta, around 11% of the work has been completed, and the project is targeted for completion by November 2027. The first instalment of Rs 16.58 crore has already been released.The chief minister will also lay the foundation stone for a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Govt Women Polytechnic. The facility, to be developed with support from Tata Technologies Ltd, will be built at Rs 7 crore, with the first instalment of Rs 3.53 crore already released for construction.
