Fake railway agent in Bengaluru nabbed with e-tickets worth Rs 86k

Bengaluru: Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended an unauthorised booking agent from Koramangala who had allegedly sold 23 e-tickets worth over Rs 86,000.Based on inputs received from Bengaluru cyber cell on illegal touting activities of railway e-tickets, RPF served a summons to Ishwar Deen who was suspected to be involved in it. He reportedly admitted that he had been providing reserved tickets to passengers without a license. He was nabbed Wednesday and released on bail following warnings.According to regulations, only registered agencies are permitted to sell railway tickets for a commission. “During enquiry, he admitted that he was booking railway e-tickets using his personal user ID for monetary gain through his mobile phone”, an RPF officer said.The officer stated that on verification of his personal ID, e-tickets were discovered to have been booked in the names of other passengers. These tickets for which the journey had already been completed were valued at Rs 86,759. RPF said that Deen was charging a commission of Rs 100 to book a single ticket.
