Guwahati: Police rescued three trafficking victims hailing from Assam, including a minor, from West Bengal’s Siliguri.Police said on Friday that the three women were allegedly lured with job offers and taken to Siliguri, where they were forced into prostitution.Sonitpur senior superintendent of police Barun Purkayastha said one of the victims is from Sonitpur, while the other two are from neighbouring districts.“The rescue operation was carried out with help from the West Bengal police. The victims have been brought back safely,” he added.Police launched an investigation to identify and arrest those involved in the trafficking racket.“Efforts are also being made to find out if more people are linked to the network. Further investigation is ongoing,” the officer said.
