‘Drug-free youth key to Viksit Bharat’

Gorakhpur: Mahayogi Gorakhnath University (MGUG) on Friday organised a Viksit Bharat Youth Connect programme under the National Service Scheme (NSS) in accordance with the guidelines of the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports.The programme was centred on the theme, “Drug-Free Youth, Developed India.”Addressing the gathering, youth icon Priyanshu Bhardwaj said a drug-free youth population is the foundation for building a developed nation. He said the vision of a Viksit Bharat can be realised only when young people are healthy, educated, aware and free from substance abuse.Bhardwaj noted that addiction adversely affects the talent, confidence and future of young individuals. Urging students to stay away from drugs, he called upon them to motivate their families, friends and communities to embrace a drug-free lifestyle.He also encouraged the youth to actively participate in digital literacy programmes, social service initiatives, innovation and nation-building activities.Programme coordinator Dhananjay Pandey highlighted the activities of the NSS and stressed the importance of youth participation in social development efforts.Students and NSS volunteers also took a pledge to remain free from substance abuse, spread awareness in society and contribute towards building a drug-free India.
