3 held for supplying weapons to gangster’s aides | Chandigarh News



Chandigarh: The operation cell of Chandigarh Police has arrested three persons allegedly involved in supplying illegal weapons to associates of gangster Lucky Patial of the Bambiha gang. Police seized a total of nine pistols and six live cartridges during the crackdown.Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Rahul and Monu, both residents of New Indira Colony, Manimajra, and seized three automatic pistols along with five live rounds from them. According to police, Monu initially sourced weapons from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and supplied them across the Tricity. Investigators said when Monu later shifted focus to drug trafficking, he introduced Rahul to weapon smugglers operating in UP and MP, following which Rahul began procuring and distributing arms.Police said four cases of assault and Arms Act violations are registered against Rahul at the Manimajra and IT Park police stations. An additional Arms Act case was registered against him in Madhya Pradesh, in which five pistols were recovered. Similarly, Monu is facing four cases of assault and Arms Act violations at Manimajra and IT Park police stations, besides an Arms Act case at Sector 20 police station in Panchkula, where four pistols and four bullets were seized from him.During interrogation, police said both accused admitted to being in contact with gangster Lucky Patial and supplying weapons to his close associates.Based on their disclosures, the police also arrested Govind with a country-made pistol. Police said Gaurav has a criminal background with cases of dacoity, assault and Arms Act violations.
