Chandigarh: A 24-year-old Indian student pursuing a master’s degree in France has alleged that he was assaulted, threatened at gunpoint and chased by a group of men outside a nightclub in Sector 7 in the early hours of Sunday.Based on his complaint, Chandigarh Police has registered an FIR against three named accused and two unidentified persons under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.According to the complaint, Dhruv Trehan, a native of Ferozepur and a Master’s in finance student at EDHEC Business School, Nice, had gone to KOMO House in Sector 7 with his friend Swapan Thind on the night of July 11-12.Trehan alleged that around 2am, an argument broke out between his friend and a man wearing a black shirt. When he tried to intervene, the man allegedly twisted his fingers and started abusing him. Bouncers reportedly stepped in and separated the parties.However, Trehan alleged that the man, later identified as Aniket Gupta, returned with four to five associates, including Jagdeep Singh Kang alias Jaggi and Baldeep Singh Sarao alias Balli, and launched a violent assault on him.The complainant alleged that he was repeatedly punched and kicked, hit with a metal bangle and struck with tables, causing injuries to his head, face and hand. He further claimed that one of the accused grabbed him by the neck, leaving him nearly unconscious and affecting hearing in his left ear.Trehan also alleged that during the assault, Aniket Gupta claimed to be the son of a judge, boasted of influence with senior police officials and threatened to shoot him and his family. The accused allegedly warned that he would not leave the spot alive.According to the complaint, after he managed to take shelter inside the club with the help of friends and staff, the accused continued issuing threats. He alleged that two members of the group fetched a firearm from their vehicle and waved it while searching for him outside the club.The complainant further alleged that the accused recklessly drove a BMW X7 outside the premises and attempted to run over people, including the club owner and his associate, while damaging several parked vehicles.The injured student was shifted to GMSH, Sector 16, where a medico-legal examination was conducted.Police have registered a case against Aniket Gupta, Jagdeep Singh Kang alias Jaggi, Baldeep Singh Sarao alias Balli, and two unidentified persons under Sections 190, 191(3), 189, 115(1), 351(3) and 281 of the BNS, along with Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
