Bagepalli: A routine verification of identity records in Chikkaballapur district has led to the cancellation of a ration card and voter ID cards issued to two Pakistani nationals, exposing how documents meant only for eligible Indian citizens were allegedly obtained by suppressing key facts.The Chikkaballapur deputy commissioner cancelled the ration card and Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued to Farah Naz and her son, Mohammed Fardeen, after finding out that both remained Pakistani nationals. Based on a complaint filed by the Bagepalli tahsildar, the two have been arrested.According to Chikkaballapur superintendent of police Kushal Chousky, cops received credible information that the mother and son, residents of Dasaiahgari Palli village in Bagepalli taluk, had obtained a ration card and voter ID despite being ineligible. The inquiry found that Mohammed Ayub Khan, originally from Bagepalli, married Farah Naz, a Pakistani national, while working in the UAE. The couple has four children. Ayub Khan and three of their children are Indian citizens, but Mohammed Fardeen was born in Pakistan and, like his mother, continues to hold Pakistani nationality.Following police queries, the district administration examined the records and concluded that the ration card had been obtained by suppressing material facts relating to nationality. The deputy commissioner ordered its cancellation, while the competent authority revoked the EPICs issued to the two.Based on the tahsildar’s complaint, police have registered a case against Farah Naz and Mohammed Fardeen under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Foreigners Act, and Representation of the People Act. Probe is on.
