Varanasi: Under the crime control campaign of Varanasi Commissionerate, a joint team of Sarnath Police and SOG on Thursday arrested 20-year-old Chitransh Kharwar alias Chiku, solving three theft cases lodged in the city in May and June.The police recovered a 110.5 gram biscuit of yellow metal, a 643 gram biscuit of white metal, a DSLR camera, and Rs 67,000 from the possession of the accused.Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Chitransh, a resident of Rasoolgarh Panchkosi, from Faridpur underpass. Police said several cases theft, organised crime, and other sections were registered against Chitransh at Chetganj, Sigra, Chitaipur, Lalpur Pandeypur, Sarnath, and Jaitpura police stations.On May 20, one Sitaram Gupta of Lohia Nagar East Ashapur lodged a complaint alleging that three cameras, two watches, a gold ring, and old silver coins were stolen from his house. On May 30, Shivansh Mishra, a resident of Bank Colony Benipur, lodged a complaint alleging that miscreants decamped with jewellery and cash breaking the lock of the house and almirah. On June 19, Mahendra Yadav, a resident of the Purana RTO area, informed police about theft of jewellery and cash from his house.
