Palanpur: Banas Dairy is expected to commission its fourth dairy plant in Uttar Pradesh at Mitli in Baghpat district in the next 18 months, the cooperative’s chairman, Shankar Chaudhary, said.Chaudhary, who is also the Speaker of Gujarat Assembly, reviewed the progress of the under-construction facility located in the Delhi NCR region. The plant will process 16 lakh litres per day of milk.Speaking after the review, Chaudhary said the Baghpat project forms a key part of Banas Dairy’s strategy to strengthen dairy infrastructure and expand access to major consumer markets across north India. “The project will be completed and commissioned within the next 18 months,” he added.Banas Dairy operates dairy plants at Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The Baghpat facility will be the cooperative’s fourth dairy project in the state.Once operational, the plant will process milk and manufacture a wide range of Amul value-added dairy products, catering primarily to the fast-growing Delhi NCR market.The project is expected to create a stronger and more efficient dairy value chain, providing milk producers with improved market access and reducing dependence on intermediaries.“More than 200,000 dairy farming families in UP are already associated with Banas Dairy through its existing operations in the state and have benefited from the cooperative model. The project is expected to extend these opportunities to thousands of additional dairy farmers, generate local employment, and support the state’s efforts to promote agricultural and rural economic growth.”
