Hisar: Hisar police’s anti-drug crackdown gathered pace in the first half of 2026, with NDPS Act cases rising from 64 to 135 and arrests increasing from 151 to 226 compared with the corresponding period last year. The data for the period between Jan 1 and July 6 reflects a substantial increase in police action across several other crime categories in the district.Hisar superintendent of police Sidhanth Jai said the most notable increase was recorded under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Action against illegal liquor trade also intensified during the period. Cases registered under the Excise Act increased from 23 during the corresponding period in 2025 to 94 this year. The number of arrests witnessed a more than threefold increase.In the area of cybercrime, investigators placed greater emphasis on financial recovery and digital investigations. Authorities helped recover about Rs 86 lakh for cyber fraud victims during the six-month period, while cybercrime arrests rose to 171. The enforcement strategy also extended to targeting the financial proceeds of crime. In NDPS-related investigations, properties valued at nearly Rs 1.79 crore were attached.MSID:: 132264156 413 |
