Panaji: A group of RG members has filed police complaints against general secretary Vishwesh Naik and treasurer Ajay Kholkar, alleging criminal conspiracy, criminal defamation, and irregularities in the use of party funds. The complaints underline a familiar accountability dispute with the disgruntled members saying that they repeatedly sought clarity on donations and expenditure but never given any answers. The complainants want a detailed investigation and scrutiny of financial documents, arguing transparency is not optional for a party funded by public goodwill.“Whenever we asked any questions about the party’s finances, we never got an answer. They kept telling us that everything is available on the website,” said Licio Roncon, one of the members removed from the party. This isn’t RG’s first trip to law enforcement in its own civil war. A week earlier, designated office bearers, including Naik and Kholkar, approached the cyber crime police accusing Borkar of taking control of the party’s official digital platforms. Since then, the factions have traded allegations and escalated a social media campaign with Naik publicly branding St Andre Viresh Borkar a “gaddar.”At the centre is the rift between former party president Manoj Parab and the party’s lone MLA, Borkar, which broke out into the open in April after simmering internally for months.
