Dibrugarh: Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Dibrugarh, has approved a fare chart for electric auto-rickshaws on selected city routes in a bid to bring uniformity in fares and curb disputes between passengers and drivers. The decision was taken at an RTA board meeting held on July 4. The fare chart covers major routes connecting transport hubs, markets, residential areas and key institutions. As per the approved chart, the fare from Murlidhar Jalan Bus Terminus (MJBT) to Seujpur and Gabharupathar Tiniali has been fixed at Rs 10 each. The MJBT-Paltan Bazar fare will be Rs 15, while passengers travelling from MJBT to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) via Paltan Bazar will have to pay Rs 20. It will benefit both passengers and operators,” Baruah said.He added that the system would be useful as Dibrugarh expands as an administrative and economic hub. “With Dibrugarh being projected as the second capital of Assam, such measures are necessary to improve urban transport management,” he said. The fare chart will remain in force until further orders, officials said.
