Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 99 development projects worth more than Rs 819 crore in Sultanpur district, urging people to continue supporting the BJP on the basis of work carried out in the district and what he described as Uttar Pradesh’s progress over the past nine years.Addressing a gathering, Yogi said the govt had ensured equal security for women, traders and all citizens, arguing that improved law and order had created conditions for investment and faster development. He listed ongoing infrastructure works across the state, including new railway lines, flyovers, highways, bridges, four-lane and six-lane roads and bypasses. The chief minister also took aim at the Opposition while contrasting development claims with Isauli Assembly constituency, which elected a Samajwadi Party MLA. He said similar development was being ignored there, without providing specific details on pending works.Referring to the state’s trajectory as a blend of “Virasat and Vikas,” Yogi accused previous Samajwadi Party govts of corruption and misuse of power. Without naming them, he referred to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav, alleging that the state was “looted” during SP rule. He claimed youth were exploited in the name of recruitment and that land was grabbed, while asserting that the current BJP govt had provided govt jobs to 9 lakh youth over nine years.Yogi said earlier public land would be encroached upon, alleging that party workers would occupy vacant plots by putting up flags. He claimed 64,000 acres of land had been freed from illegal possession after the BJP came to power. He further alleged the previous govt had allowed “one mafia in every district” and “one goon in every police station jurisdiction,” while saying the current ‘double engine govt’ was focused on expanding health infrastructure.Highlighting Sultanpur, he said the district now has an operational medical college and noted that a foundation stone for a nursing college was laid on Monday. He also cited connectivity improvements through the Purvanchal Expressway, the Ayodhya four-lane road and strengthened Prayagraj-Varanasi routes. Sultanpur is now about 45 minutes from Ayodhya Airport and around 1.5 hours from Lucknow and Prayagraj, he said.He announced an industrial cluster being developed on the Purvanchal Expressway, stating it would create employment opportunities for local youth. On sports development, he cited athletes Lalit Upadhyay and Rajkumar Pal, saying medal winners have been appointed as deputy superintendents of police, and added that indoor and rural stadiums and sports grounds are being developed across the state.
