Bengaluru: Lokayukta police Tuesday conducted simultaneous searches at seven locations across Bengaluru as part of an investigation into alleged criminal misconduct by senior govt officials accused of illegally allotting valuable land to private individuals.The searches were carried out in connection with a case registered by Lokayukta police in which then special deputy commissioner, Bengaluru, MK Jagadish, Devanahalli tahsildar BR Manjunath and Shirastedar Rajanikanth were accused of abusing their official positions to wrongfully allot more than 13 acres of govt land in Hunasamaranahalli to private persons, causing significant loss to the exchequer. Jagadish has also been accused of illegally facilitating allotment of two acres of govt land at Marenahalli village in Yelahanka to a private individual.Acting on search warrants obtained from the court, the sleuths raided their offices/residences and seized documents. A senior officer said the alleged misconduct took place between 2016 and 2021.
