80-year-old woman among 3 killed in road accidents; school bus runs over biker

Gurgaon: Three people, including an 80-year-old woman, were killed in three separate road accidents.In the latest incident, a motorcycle rider was killed Tuesday after a school bus allegedly moved backwards while being pushed to start and ran over the motorcycle near Bilaspur Chowk on Pataudi Road. There were no students in the bus.The Sept 29 accident took place when Naveen Kumar was travelling in his vehicle from Bilaspur Khurd towards Luhari in Pataudi. According to his complaint, near Bilaspur Chowk-Pataudi Road T-point, a motorcycle bearing registration number HR26CY3320, carrying two men, was ahead of his vehicle. A school bus bearing registration number HR47E9871 was standing ahead of the motorcycle.Naveen told police that the bus driver removed the support fixed under the bus’s wheel and got passersby to push the bus backwards to start it. The bus allegedly did not stop and moved onto the motorcycle rider standing behind it. The pillion rider jumped off, following which the bus collided with the bike.The motorcycle rider, identified as Om Prakash, a resident of Bhora Khurd, Pataudi, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.Police registered a case under sections 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of BNS. ASI Ajay Kumar has been assigned the investigation.In another fatal accident, 37-year-old Manoj Kumar Sharma died Tuesday after remaining under treatment for injuries sustained in a road accident near Sidharawali flyover on Sept 2.According to a complaint filed by his nephew Abhishek, Manoj had gone to Kapdiwas on his motorcycle on Sept 2. While returning, an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit his motorcycle near Sidharawali flyover. Manoj fell onto the road and suffered serious injuries to his head and other parts of his body. The driver fled the spot with the vehicle.Passersby took Manoj to Aastha Hospital at Bilaspur Chowk. Later he was taken to NIMS Hospital in Jaipur for further treatment. Manoj died at NIMS Hospital on Sept 29.After receiving information about his death on September 29, police contacted the family. Abhishek later appeared at Bilaspur police station and submitted the complaint. Police registered a case against the unidentified driver.In the third case, Bimla, who was injured after being hit by a pickup vehicle while crossing a road in Sector 52 on Sept 25, died during treatment on Tuesday evening.According to her son Subhash’s complaint, Bimla was going from Chakkarpur to Wazirabad to meet her daughter Guddi. At around 8am on Sept 25, she was crossing the road near the bus stop on Ambedkar Road, close to a CNG pump in Housing Board Colony, Sector 52, when a pickup bearing registration number HR55AY7124 allegedly came at high speed and hit her from the side.Bimla sustained serious injuries and was taken to the govt hospital in Sector 10. Doctors referred her to PGIMS Rohtak. Since the family considered Rohtak far, Subhash took her to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries.Police said that information about Bimla’s admission after the road accident was received on Sept 25. Head constable Suresh reached the Sector 10 govt hospital on Sept 26 and obtained her MLR. “An application was submitted to the doctor for recording her statement, but the doctor noted that she had been referred to PGIMS Rohtak. Police then contacted the family, who said they were getting her treated at Safdarjung Hospital,” a cop said.Subhash subsequently submitted a complaint alleging the accident was caused by the driver of the pickup due to high-speed and negligent driving. Police registered a case against the pickup driver.
