Silchar: A fox attacked at least eight people, including women and children, leaving four seriously injured in Cachar district in the early hours of Thursday.The attacks began before dawn when Rajia Begum Laskar stepped out of her house to use the bathroom. The fox pounced on her and bit her repeatedly, causing severe injuries.Hearing her cries, family members rushed to help, but the animal attacked them before fleeing into the darkness. It later reportedly entered several nearby houses and attacked residents.Four victims with deep bite wounds were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for specialised treatment. The other four received first aid at a local health facility and were discharged.The attacks triggered panic in the village, with residents fearing the animal could strike again. Villagers urged the forest department and district administration to intervene immediately, capture the fox and restore normalcy.
