8 gang members ‘bound down’ in wake of 2 murder cases

Times News NetworkPanchkula: As part of preventive action aimed at maintaining law and order following the Sonu Nolta murder case, Panchkula Police have initiated proceedings against eight individuals allegedly linked to a criminal gang and bound them down for a period of six months.The action was taken by the Pinjore Police under Sections 126/170 and 135(3) of BNSS to prevent breach of peace or untoward incidents in the area.The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Surender Singh and Pinjore SHO, inspector Rajesh Kumar.Based on intelligence inputs and assessment of prevailing circumstances, police identified eight individuals with criminal backgrounds and produced them before the executive magistrate.The magistrate directed the accused persons to maintain peace and good conduct for the next six months.Police said the preventive action was taken solely to ensure public safety and maintain communal harmony in the region following recent developments in the Sonu Nolta. The national Kabaddi player was shot dead last year.The action was taken in view of the murders of Sonu Nolta and trader Jitesh Manocha. Under such action, persons identified are told to be available for a period of six months. They are to report to the police whenever called during the period. Police also keep a close eye on them. Police said the preventive action was taken after they got inputs about some development related to gang members.
