Palanpur: The Patan Cyber police arrested eight people of a 16-member gang for allegedly running a mule accounts racket and laundering money siphoned off in various cybercrimes.Preliminary investigation revealed that the gang laundered Rs 16.65 crore of cyberfraud proceeds. Eight of the 16 accused were arrested and efforts are on to nab the remaining.A total of 139 complaints related to cyberfraud from various sources were primarily linked to nine bank accounts. “All eight arrested persons are mule account holders,” said Patan deputy SP Paresh Renuka.On June 8, the Patan police busted a cyberfraud racket of mule bank accounts and suspicious financial transactions worth Rs 398.43 crore and arrested 20 people.
