Rajkot: In a crackdown on the illegal sale of adulterated food items, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Devbhumi Dwarka police apprehended a 76-year-old woman for allegedly selling fake desi ghee.Acting on specific intelligence during patrolling in the Salaya Marine police station area, police received inputs that adulterated desi ghee mixed with chemicals was being sold near the Salaya Panjrapole gate, posing a serious risk to public health.An SOG team rushed to the location and detained the suspect, identified as Maya Vakatar, a resident of Khambhalia. Officials said she was found in possession of a substantial quantity of the suspected counterfeit ghee.Following the seizure, the food inspector was called to the spot. Preliminary on-site testing was conducted, after which samples of the adulterated product were collected for further laboratory analysis.The remaining stock, around 9kg of ghee valued at approximately Rs 2,700, was destroyed on the spot to prevent any potential harm to consumers, officials said.
