Pune: A 65-year-old warkari was killed after being hit by a car in Baramati late on Wednesday night. The Pune Rural police identified the deceased as Vishnu Ramchandra Pawar.The police said the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the car. “The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi had halted in Baramati on Wednesday night. The victim was part of a dindi in the palkhi procession,” an officer from the Pune Rural police said.Pawar was rushed to a nearby hospital after the accident, where doctors declared him dead.This was the third fatal accident involving the Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhi processions this year. On Monday (July 13), three women warkaris were killed and seven others were injured after a truck mowed them down near Jejuri. On Sunday (July 12), an unidentified warkari was killed at Phursungi after being hit by an unidentified vehicle..Jejuri death reaches 4Meanwhile, a woman warkari, who had sustained severe injuries in the accident at Jejuri on July 13, succumbed to the injuries during the treatment in a hospital on Thursday. The police have identified the deceased woman as Shailaja Jagtap. With this the death toll in the accident reached four. Three injured women are still undergoing treatment in the hospital.
