Dhubri: Police arrested six people on Saturday for allegedly collecting money from patients’ families on the pretext of arranging blood donors on the premises of Dhubri Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).Police launched the operation following an FIR lodged by Dhubri police station sub-inspector Bhaskar Bora.The complaint said police received information on July 31 that a group of middlemen was demanding money from patients’ relatives in exchange for arranging donors at the hospital.A joint team of the district crime unit and Dhubri police conducted an operation at the hospital and allegedly caught the suspects offering to arrange blood donors for money.The accused were identified as Siddique Ali, Dulal Sheikh, Makbul Hussain, Abdul Jalil, Ramzan Sheikh and Mokhlesur Rahman.Police said a preliminary examination of their mobile phones revealed communication records and transaction details allegedly linked to the racket. Notices were served on them under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, but they failed to provide satisfactory explanations, police added.A case has been registered at Dhubri police station under Sections 61(2), 318(2), 308(2), 112(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
