New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered six FIRs so far in connection with the violence that erupted during the march to Parliament on Monday. The sections pertain to rioting, assault on police personnel, damage to public property and other offences.According to sources, four-five more cases are in the process of being filed. The probe will likely be handed over to the special cell or the crime branch. Section 109(1) of BNS, pertaining to attempt to murder, will also be added during the course of the investigation, cops said.At least four FIRs pertain to the offence of rioting and assault on cops. Footage of more than 400 CCTV cameras, besides mobile and TV channel videos, is being analysed to identify those allegedly involved in rioting.Police have also registered an FIR under provisions relating to criminal conspiracy, alleging that there was a premeditated plan to trigger violence during the protest. According to investigators, the alleged conspirators planned to take out the march to Parliament despite prohibitory orders being in force and permission having been denied.Another FIR has been filed under BNS sections 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant); 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions); 132 ( assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty); 121(1) (unlawful assembly); 189(3), 190, 191(2), 191(3) and 192 dealing with unlawful assembly, rioting and violence; 324(5) (mischief); 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others); 3(5) (common intention); and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy).A case has also been registered over the alleged operation of a drone near Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session, where flying unmanned aerial vehicles is prohibited due to security restrictions. The flying of the drone came to light after videos widely shared on X appeared to show aerial footage of the crowd gathered at Jantar Mantar. Delhi Police said it has taken cognisance of the matter and is verifying the authenticity of the footage.
