Chennai: A five-year-old boy searching for his mother died after falling into a farm well in Chengalpet district on Tuesday morning.Yuvaraj, whose father was at work and mother was grazing goats in the fields nearby, had gone out to play with children as school was closed for summer vacation. After his friends returned home, the child set out in search of his mother, when he slipped and fell into a well.Locals who began a search noticed one of his toys floating in the well. They alerted other villagers, one of whom jumped in and pulled the boy out. The child was taken to govt medical college and hospital in Chengalpet, where doctors declared him dead. Police said the sand around the well was slushy and may have caused the accident. Yuvaraj, a UKG student at a panchayat union middle school, was the son of Lingam, 30, a driver from Chettipunniyam village. Chengalpet taluk police registered a case.
