Mumbai: The state govt on Saturday notified the nomination of five members to Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC). One of the four ex officio member posts is yet to be filled.Dr Santosh Kadam, who was one of the nine members elected to MMC in April, said the council can only be formed once all the posts are filled. “Until the council is formed, it will continue to function as it did even after the elections,” he said. The nominated members are Dr Ajay Keni, Dr Rahul Kulkarni, Dr Prashant Chaudhary, Dr Rajiv Yerawadekar and Dr Chandrashekhar Gillurkar.MMC has functioned under state-appointed administrators since Aug 2022 after the elected body’s term expired. It is expected that once the council is formed, the elected members would try to push back against the registration of homeopaths with MMC. Dr Kadam did not wish to comment on this. TNN
