48 hours after teen beaten to death over road rage, police still look for second suspect
The accused allegedly assaulted the boy for over half an hour at Rahul’s office before dumping him on the road outside

Ghaziabad: Nearly 48 hours after a teenager was beaten to death by a property dealer and his aide in a road-rage attack in the Loni Border area, police are still on the lookout for one of the accused.DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said the main accused, Rahul Mavi (25), alias Pehalwan, was arrested on Tuesday under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 3(5) (common intention). A local court sent him to judicial custody on Wednesday. Multiple police teams, meanwhile, are trying to trace his associate, Anuj Kasana (27). Police said a team raided Kasana’s home in Loni on Tuesday but did not find him.According to police, Rahul told investigators he was returning to his office with Kasana after buying fruit from Loni trisection in his Baleno when the 17-year-old boy hit the car with his bike near IGL station junction.Rahul claimed he took the boy to his office in his car to demand compensation for the damage. When the teenager refused to pay, Rahul and Anuj assaulted him until he lost consciousness, police said, citing the accused’s statement. Rahul claimed he learnt that the boy had died after his friends took him away on their bike.The victim’s family earlier told TOI that Sharik was returning home from a local swimming pool with two friends around 3 pm on Monday when his bike grazed Rahul’s parked Baleno. In a police complaint, they claimed that Rahul immediately got out of his car and started hitting the teenager on the roadside. When the boy fell to the ground, Rahul and Anuj allegedly kicked him and beat him with sticks. They then forced him into the car and drove roughly 500 metres to Rahul’s office, while Kasana followed on the victim’s bike, police said.At the office, the two allegedly beat the boy for over half an hour. They allegedly demanded money for the damage to the car and even tried to strangle him.Two teenagers, who had been riding pillion with the victim, took him home from Rahul’s office on their bike. When his condition worsened, he was taken to GTB Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.The victim’s brother told TOI the accused showed no fear of the law. “My brother was studying in Class 10. He dreamt of joining the police or the Indian Army. That dream, and my parents’ hopes, are now unfulfilled,” he said.
