CHANDIGARH: A 43-year-old vegetable trader was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute over parking a vegetable-laden pickup vehicle at the Sector 26 grain and vegetable market late on Friday night.The deceased was identified as Des Raj, a resident of Una in Himachal Pradesh. Police said his family had been informed. The main accused, identified as Vinod, a vegetable commission agent from Uttar Pradesh, and his sons, who were allegedly involved in the attack, were absconding. The Sector 26 police were conducting raids to trace them.Police said Des Raj and Vinod were both commission agents who brought vegetables from their respective areas in small pickup vehicles and sold them at the Sector 26 vegetable market.At around 10 pm on Friday, Des Raj was selling vegetables from his vehicle when Vinod arrived at the market with his sons and allegedly asked him to move the vehicle.An argument broke out over the parking of the vehicle and soon escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, Vinod and his sons allegedly attacked Des Raj with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries on him, police said.The accused fled the spot before nearby people could intervene. Des Raj was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police kept the body in the mortuary for an autopsy and registered a case against Vinod and others under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Police, along with a mobile forensic team, examined the crime scene and collected blood samples and other evidence. Further investigation was underway, and efforts were on to trace and arrest the accused.
