Silchar: A landslide damaged four houses and part of Saron Presbyterian High School in Dima Hasao district on Sunday.Triggered by days of heavy rain, the landslide sent hill soil crashing into Saron village under Mahur police station, prompting affected families to shift belongings to safer locations amid fears of further landslides.Residents alleged that hill cutting for the ongoing NH-27 project disturbed the soil structure and increased landslide risks during heavy rain.They urged the district administration to assess the damage, secure vulnerable homes and arrange rehabilitation if required. They also sought an NHAI assessment to determine whether highway construction contributed to the landslide and demanded compensation.Residents threatened an agitation if the administration and highway authorities failed to address their concerns and prevent further damage.
