Silchar: Police on Tuesday seized 350 bags of urea allegedly being smuggled in a truck at Lailapur along the Assam-Mizoram border in Cachar district.The fertiliser was concealed behind sacks of potatoes, police said. The truck was intercepted at the Lailapur police patrol post during an operation led by its in-charge, Dibakar Gogoi.Two men travelling in the vehicle were detained. They were identified as Shah Alam and Hossain Ali, residents of Chhatpara village under Jogighopa police station in Bongaigaon district.Police suspect the consignment was being transported illegally and are investigating its source, intended destination and possible links to a wider smuggling network.
