Gurgaon: A three-year-old girl died after she was allegedly hit by a car near the Dhankot canal on Tuesday evening. A case has been registered against the car driver.The girl, Divya, a resident of Dhankot village, was taken to Vibrant Hospital in Basai after the accident, where doctors declared her dead. According to a complaint filed by Anil Yadav, his wife Kiran Kumari and daughter Divya had gone to fetch water from a tap near the canal when a BYD car allegedly hit the girl, leaving her critically injured.Yadav, who works at a private company and is also a farmer, told police that the driver of the car, Ramlal Yadav, was driving rashly and negligently.According to the complaint, passersby took Kiran and Divya to Vibrant Hospital in the same car after the accident. Anil reached the hospital after being informed about the incident and was told by doctors that Divya had been brought dead.A relative of the girl, who is an ex-serviceman, said the car was being driven by an employee and not its owner. “The driver stopped after the accident and told passersby that he was not the owner of the vehicle. Police took him into custody after being informed. He was later released on bail from the police station, while the car was impounded,” the relative told TOI.After receiving information, police reached the hospital and obtained the girl’s medical report. Police kept the body in the mortuary and handed it over to the family after an autopsy.A case was registered at Rajendra Park police station under sections 285 (danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS. Further investigation is underway, police said.
