The other room was in usable condition, but since its ceiling plaster fell Tuesday, the school building is now closed,” said Virendra Singh Yadav, chief district education officer.“The school will now operate from rooms at a nearby temple. A proposal for major repairs of the school building is forwarded for further action,” Yadav added.Headmaster Lal Singh Shaktawat said the school, which runs up to Class 5 and has 37 students, had earlier informed the education department about the deteriorating condition of the building.Locals said the structure had been in poor condition for a long time and alleged that repairs and safety measures were not carried out in time.Villagers and parents demanded inspections of govt school buildings, immediate repairs to unsafe structures and alternate arrangements where required.
