Varanasi: Police on Monday conducted two separate encounter operations arresting three accused involved in the murder of a 27-year-old man, Azad Bind, who was on his way to his wedding on May 1.According to Jaunpur ASP (Rural) Atish Kumar Singh, on Monday early morning, a joint team of Khetasarai and Saraikhwaja police stations intercepted accused, Kushal Mishra and Anitesh Mishra, during a vehicle checking drive in Songar area. The duo allegedly opened fire on the police team in a bid to escape, and in retaliatory firing, both sustained bullet injuries in their legs.In another encounter, conducted by the joint team of cops from Badlapur and Khuthan, the third accused, Vikas Yadav, was nabbed from Sheikh Asrafpur, during vehicle checking drive. According to police, the accused also tried to escape after opening fire on cops but the police took prompt retaliatory action in which he suffered bullet injury in leg.Jaunpur’s ASP (Rural) Atish Kumar Singh said that five police teams were deputed in this case. He added that during the course of investigation, it came to light that that four others including Kushal Mishra, Anitesh Mishra, Ayush Yadav and Vikas Yadav were also involved in conspiring the killing. Their names were thus added in the FIR, he said.Police also said that the accused arrested in the encounters informed that mutual enmity led to Azad’s killing.While three conspirators in the case have been nabbed, the prime accused Pradeep Bind along with his three aides is still absconding.
