Amritsar: The Amritsar Rural police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three persons and seized 10 kg of heroin, a .30-bore pistol and a motorcycle from their possession.Shajan Arora, Vijaypal Singh and Jasanpreet Singh were arrested during an operation in the Ram Tirth area of Amritsar.Talking to the mediapersons here, deputy inspector general, border range, Harmanbir Singh Gill, said that during preliminary investigation, police found the accused were allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and involved in an illegal drug supply network.Investigators are now probing their links, the source of the heroin and its intended destination, he said.Gill said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and establish the role of the accused in previous consignments.A case has been registered at Lopoke police station, Amritsar Rural, he added.
