Palanpur: Three Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawans were dismissed and a police constable suspended after a video allegedly showing them demanding money from a truck driver in the name of ‘tea and refreshments’ at the Tharad checkpost in Vav-Tharad district went viral.The action was taken after the video, circulated on social media two days ago, allegedly exposed extortion at the checkpost. The video was recorded by truck driver Shyamlal who was transporting goods from Bikaner to Morbi.According to the allegations, GRD personnel on duty at the checkpost demanded money from the truck driver for ‘chai paani’.“I thank Gujarat DGP and Tharad district police for acting against the corrupt personnel within just 24 hours of the video going viral,” Shyamlal told media persons.
