Shillong: Meghalaya police arrested three Assam residents for allegedly attempting to sell stolen motorcycles in Weiloi on Thursday.The suspects, all from Tamulpur, were apprehended by Mawsynram police after receiving information on Aug 27, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said on Friday.Police laid an ambush and arrested the three alleged motorcycle thieves, while another gang member escaped into the forest.Three suspected stolen motorcycles were recovered.The accused are in police custody for interrogation, verification and legal action, Syiem said.He added that Assam Police has been informed about the arrests and that search operations were underway to trace the suspect who escaped.
