Pune: The third FYJC admission merit list was announced on Tuesday with 28,234 students allotted seats in junior colleges across Pune region. According to the directorate of education (Pune division), 89,663 students were eligible for the third round. A total of 16,842 students secured admission in their first-preference college, while 5,727 got their second preference and 2,200 were allotted their third preference.Science remained the most sought-after stream with 16,025 allotments, followed by commerce (7,363) and arts (4,846). SSC students accounted for 25,207 allotments, the highest among all boards.Cut-offs at several leading colleges eased compared to earlier rounds, with Fergusson College closing at 477 marks for science, SP College at 452-457, Symbiosis at 470 for commerce and Garware College of Commerce at 469.Students allotted seats under CAP, minority or in-house quotas must confirm admissions between June 23 and June 25 by completing online and college-level formalities.The latest round indicates a gradual softening of cut-offs compared to the highly competitive opening rounds, where premier colleges such as Fergusson College and BMCC recorded cut-offs close to 480 marks. Education officials said the trend is typical as vacancies emerge after admissions are confirmed in previous rounds.Officials have told students not to rely solely on SMS notifications and instead verify their allotment status through their login on the official FYJC admission portal. Students allotted colleges under the CAP, in-house or minority quota must confirm admissions between June 23 and June 25 by uploading documents online and completing admission formalities at the allotted college.The board-wise allotment data showed that SSC students accounted for the overwhelming majority of admissions, securing 25,207 of the 28,234 allotted seats. CBSE students received 2,396 allotments, while students from ICSE, NIOS, IB and IGCSE boards accounted for the remaining seats.Among prominent colleges, Fergusson College’s Science stream closed at 477 marks, maintaining its position among the most sought-after destinations. Sir Parashurambhau College recorded cut-offs of 457 in arts, 456 in commerce and 452 in science. Symbiosis College closed at 463 for arts and 470 in commerce, while Nowrosjee Wadia College reported 430 for arts and 435 for science. Garware College of Commerce closed at 469 in commerce and Abasaheb Garware College at 444 for science.Education officials reiterated that once a student confirms admission under any quota — CAP, minority, in-house or management — they become ineligible for subsequent admission rounds.
