Navi Mumbai: A Maharashtra Security Forces (MSF) jawan, Rohit Janardan Patil (27), allegedly killed his lover by strangling her with a nylon rope before killing himself with the same nylon rope after a heated argument between them on Tuesday evening at a house in Nidi village, Roha taluka, in Raigad. Patil was selected as MSF jawan after completing his police training and was awaiting his posting. The house is owned by a Mumbai resident, Laxman Gadekar, who had previously passed. Gadekar’s family, residing in Thane, had appointed the victim, Tanvi Ganesh Taadkar’s (20) mother as a caretaker to keep the house clean as they visited their native village house only for vacation.Roha police have registered a murder case against Patil. An Abated-Summary (A-summary) report will be submitted in the Roha JMFC court to officially terminate pending criminal procedure against Patil, informed the police.Maruti Patil, senior police inspector of Roha, said the murder case was registered after a complaint by Namdev Madhavi (42), to whom Taadkar was a niece-in-law. As per the complainant, he was aware that both the deceased were in a love relationship for around five years, and he frequently visited her house. As Taadkar’s mother Geeta was a caretaker of Gadekar’s house, the victim used to accompany her mother and elder sister for cleaning the house. On Tuesday around 9 pm, the victim’s elder sister Namasvi contacted Madhavi over mobile and said that Taadkar had gone alone to Gadekar’s house for cleaning but did not return home till late night. Hence, Namasvi and her mother Geeta went to check on her at Gadekar’s house, but the rear and front doors were locked from inside and Taadkar was not responding to their calls. Hence, Namasvi requested her uncle Madhavi to come immediately.SPI Patil said, “The complainant further stated that when they all reached Gadekar’s house and he opened the sliding window and peeped inside, he saw the accused hanging from the ceiling fan with nylon rope round his neck. Madhavi tried to break open the front door by kicking, but it did not open. When he repeatedly kicked the rear door, the inside door bolt came off. They all went inside and found the victim also lying motionless on the bedroom floor. Madhavi then alerted the village police, who in turn informed Roha police. The couple was declared brought dead at Roha sub-district hospital.”Police said that from the WhatsApp messages shared between the couple, it is learnt that the accused was annoyed with her due to her hostile behaviour towards him, probably suspecting her fidelity. Hence, on Tuesday evening, he texted her that he wanted to meet her and talk. Taadkar replied by calling him to Gadekar’s house. When they met, the accused bolted the front and rear doors of the house from inside. Thereafter, probably a heated argument ensued between them and, in a fit of rage, the accused allegedly strangled Taadkar and then committed suicide.
