When teams reached the spot, nearly 100 to 150 people were found sitting and standing on the main road with banners, raising slogans and stopping vehicles. The blockade caused long traffic jams on both sides of the busy road.According to investigators, the protest was allegedly organised through a WhatsApp group called “Neighbours of New Tragad”, which includes members from several nearby housing societies. Police claimed that messages in the group urged residents to block the road until the cut was reopened. Some messages also allegedly suggested damaging barricades and calling the media.Officials said a similar protest took place at the same spot on February 7, during which barricades were reportedly damaged. An FIR was registered against 7 identified persons and around 100 to 150 others under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for unlawful assembly, obstructing a public road, and damaging public property. Police said further investigation is ongoing, and video footage is being examined to identify other participants. MSID:: 128756302 413 |
