24 Electric Meters Catch Fire in Keshav Puram Building, Three Rescued

New Delhi: Three people were rescued after a fire broke out in the electric meters of a residential building in northwest Delhi’s Keshav Puram in the early hours of Monday.Delhi Fire Service (DFS) got a call about the fire around 2.03 am from a house on Lawrence Road. Five fire tenders, around 25 firemen and a hydraulic lift were dispatched to the spot. Police also got a call around the same time, after which a PCR van and two ambulances rushed to the spot.The rescued residents have been identified as Gaurav (28), Kaira (25) and Indu Batra (55). They were rescued from the terrace.The blaze was completely doused by 2.30 am. No loss of property or injury was reported.Fire officials said the fire started in 24 electric meters on the ground floor. The residential building has a ground-plus-four-floor structure.A police inquiry revealed that a short circuit in one of the meters started the fire. The blaze engulfed the stairway above the meters.A detailed police inquiry is on.
