Ahmedabad: A 23-year-old man, Taniskh Makwana, died after accidentally falling into a sewer well inside an unused pumping station in Maninagar area on Monday night.According to police, the deceased had allegedly entered the restricted premises along with a friend without any authorisation. Preliminary investigations indicated that the two had trespassed into the abandoned pumping station. As the area was poorly lit, the youth failed to notice the open sewer well and fell into it.The friend told police that Makwana was trying to switch on his mobile phone torch before he fell. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation officials said the pumping station is non-operational. They said the area was closed to the public, adding that Makwana and his friend had entered the premises without permission.Maninagar police have registered a case of accidental death and are recording statements.
