Gurgaon: A 22-year-old BSc student shot himself dead at his residence in Sector 77 on Wednesday morning using a licensed revolver belonging to his uncle, police said.A note recovered from his residence read that he was distressed over losses in online gaming and his association with “bad company,” an officer added. Police said they are examining his mobile phone records and financial transactions to determine the extent of losses and identify individuals he was in contact with.The deceased was a third-year student at YMCA University and lived with his mother and younger brother at Jal Vihar Welfare Society. His father had passed away years ago.The family originally hails from Shahjahanpur village.According to police, the deceased’s family was present in the house when the incident took place. Around 10.30-11am, he locked himself inside a bathroom with the revolver, the officer said.“Upon hearing a gunshot, the deceased mother and brother broke open the door and found him lying in a pool of blood,” an officer said.Family members and neighbours rushed him to a nearby private hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival, after which police were informed.A team from BPTP police station reached the spot and began an investigation. “The revolver used in the incident was seized. The weapon belonged to the deceased’s uncle, a retired Army personnel, and was kept at the residence,” an officer privy to the investigation said.During the search, police recovered the suicide note from a book in his room. In it, the deceased apologised to his mother and mentioned that he became friendly with ‘the wrong people’ and developed an addiction to online gaming, leading to significant financial losses, the officer added.Police sent the body for postmortem and are analysing his phone.The officer added, “We have not found anything in his mobile phone yet. There is nothing suspicious in his messages. However, we will analyse if the phone was formatted previously. A detailed investigation will be undertaken and his mobile phone will be analysed further.”
